When it comes to heaters: you don’t want to risk it
When it comes to making choices, we all want to make the best choice possible. We must weigh all the factors—price, safety, quality, and availability—and choose the option that best fits our needs. Being well informed about our options is vital to making the best decision possible. And, that is part of our mission, helping you be informed about your options.
NAPCO is the producer of high quality replacement parts for heaters used in clothes dryers and electric furnaces. We pride ourselves on being the largest aftermarket manufacturer of open coil electric heaters in the USA. In order to make sure you can order the parts you need when you need them, NAPCO keeps in stock a large selection of components for a wide range of heaters. Also, we manufacture the parts in The USA, which means no waiting for overseas shipping. By maintaining a domestic operation.
Per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Improvement Act United States Code “Warrantors cannot require that only branded parts be used with the product in order to retain the warranty”. See link below to read the full law. It is a “win-win” for all parties to have generic quality parts available. It extends the life of appliances by providing cost effective quality parts for even “out-of-warranty” appliances. Since NAPCO heaters are “Made in the USA” it provides jobs for US workers. And, of course, it helps keep the OEM’s honest. Without real competition in this large market place the consumer would pay much more for parts and have limited choices. NAPCO supports “There is a Choice” that provides many options for heaters as well as other components. “There is a Choice” places pressure on the OEM to deliver better quality at a lower price. Insurance companies support the concept; Congress and the legal system are behind the use of good high quality generic parts. “There is a Choice” and NAPCO adds the needed ingredient to give the service tech the motive to use the generic parts with confidence.
NAPCO Engineers have many years of engineering design and development experience working with the various manufacturers of clothes dryers and electric furnaces as well as serving the after market for clothes dryers and electric furnaces. Our core competency is manufacturing generic electric heaters for the after market. The quality and design of the heater is critical in these appliances because the heater can be damaged by malfunctioning blowers, clogged or restricted ducts, thermostats and safety sensors. The older the machine, the more likely it has an out of calibration heat sensor or under performing blower. It is critical that the replacement heater have high quality resistance wire, ceramic insulators, and the metal supporting frame must be of the correct material and finish. The assembler must understand the critical nature of proper spacings, helix coil stretch and terminal crimp specifications. Few have the experience to specify, purchase and/or fabricate heaters that will survive for years in this tough clothes-dryer and electric furnace market. NAPCO employees are made aware of any field defects that are returned to us. We are challenged to resolve problems that are not necessarily of our making, and we must fabricate heaters that are even more durable than would be required in a new machine because the older machines that we provide parts for, very often, have underperforming heat sensors and blowers that do not get replaced when the heater fails. We understand that marginal heaters will not work in the after market. Marginal, poor quality, heaters are the service technician’s worst nightmare.
NAPCO provides a one year (from date of manufacturer) warranty on heaters to be installed in old “out-of-warranty” machines. We know they must last for years, beyond our warranty, in this tough application for us to maintain our brand recognition and for us to survive. We are flattered by the attempts of the Chinese to copy NAPCO products; however, their inferior quality can be hazardous both from a financial standpoint and safety wise. We do maintain patents on much of our product to prevent this counterfeit activity. It is very important to make sure the heater you are purchasing and/or installing is a legitimate NAPCO “made in America” heater. The China counterfeit heaters do not last and have been known to cause fires. NAPCO receives counterfeit heaters daily. Customers believe they were made by NAPCO. There are several layers of quality that NAPCO and “There is a Choice” can help you navigate through. By supporting NAPCO and this group you can have it all; quality, fast delivery and value. As you know all parts are not equal to the parts we sell. There are products that China can make and there are products that they cannot make and maintain an acceptable quality level without being held to tight quality standards. NAPCO makes all heaters in the USA using high quality material and is here to protect you from these “fly-by-night” operators.
NAPCO delivery is quick because we maintain component stock on a wide variety of generic heaters and we manufacturer the heaters in America where they are used. No waiting for the goods to arrive from China or delays in port, and if there is an issue, your dealer knows how to find us unlike our China copy cats that can vanish when the going gets tough.
NAPCO is the largest generic manufacturer of open coil electric heaters for after market clothes dryers and electric furnaces in the USA. NAPCO takes great care when introducing new products to thoroughly bench-test and field-test the new heaters before exposing our customers to large volume production. Many of the basic components (resistance wire, ceramics, thermostats, thermal fuses, terminals and specialized steels) are shared components among the various brands that we support. This means we can purchase in volume and demand the high quality needed to service these tough applications. This also means we have ready component stock to produce virtually any heater in small or large quantity. When an OEM brand is out of stock because his supplier did not deliver on time, NAPCO stands ready to take up the slack with a quality product.
NAPCO maintains stock on critical thermostats, thermal fuses and high limits that we purchase or manufacture to super tight standards appropriate for these tough after market applications. When you purchase your heater, thermostats and high limits (carrying the NAPCO brand) you can be sure that they are compatible, have been thoroughly tested, certified and that NAPCO will support the distributor we sold the parts to.
